WinSAMM News June 2006

Importing data in WinSAMM
You purchased a competitor's accounts, added a new installer or simply want to migrate from an old software to WINSAMM? But what about all those account's data to enter? You surely do not want to type all of them in WINSAMM. WINSAMM now comes with a feature to allow import of data. Clients info, email, alarm codes, users info and even notes can be imported in WINSAMM using tab, comma or semicolon delimited files.

By using Microsoft Excel, you can prepare three files, one for client info, one for user info and a last one for alarm code information. Make sure those client numbers are not already used in your WINSAMM. To export all this information, click on 'save as...' and select CSV option (Comma delimited). Each of the three files are imported in WINSAMM using the F2 account management/import page. Choosing import will bring a dialog box to import from text files. Browse in your PC to select the three files and click on the Import button. All files will be uploaded in the WINSAMM database within seconds. There is no limit of accounts but you must check with MCDI Support to know the maximum number of characters for each field. Contact MCDI Support to receive the description document for import.

PROGRESS REPORT ON SECURITHOR
SECURITHOR, WINSAMM's successor is getting ready for release in September and will be shown live to the public in August. Testing in several CMS is going strong.

Securithor is MCDI Security Products Inc. new monitoring software. This completely new automation software keeps some of the operating structure of WINSAMM but it is written completely anew using the latest programming tools and a SQL database. This enables us to include new features in Securithor more easily and to develop several extra packs that we could not dream of in WINSAMM.

Securithor will do all the things WINSAMM does plus a few extra tricks to add speed to your CMS operation and goodies to offer to your customers.

FIRST SHOWING AT EXPOSYSCOM
MCDI will show Securithor to the public for the first time at EXPOSYSCOM August 16 to 18th in Mexico. This exhibition from MCDI Security Products largest dealers in Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela is one of the most attended in Latin America and will be held at the World Trade Center in México, D.F.

PRICE GARANTEE FOR WINSAMM USERS
No need to wait for Securithor! If you purchase a WINSAMM single station license during the year prior to Securithor release, MCDI Security Products guarantees a free upgrade to Securithor core version with your WINSAMM purchase thus insuring the price of Securithor is the same as WINSAMM when you purchase it before release date.

Export of your WINSAMM data into Securithor is already planned in Securithor to make a smooth transition. We also made sure that WINSAMM users and operators will find themselves at home and are able to use Securithor out of the box.

NEW FEATURES

With a new SQL database and the use of new programming tools, we can now add features more easily in Securithor. Among things now standard in Securithor you will find resizable windows with position memory for each operator, training mode for new operators, auto fill and prewritten comments. These will surely contribute to a faster and more standardized operation in the Central. Neat new features such as Operator's alertness check are also standard as well as a large comprehensive bank of reports.

MADE FOR WIN 2000, XP and VISTA
Securithor is made for Windows XP and VISTA, Microsoft new OS in preparation. Our developers routinely check Securithor with Microsoft beta of VISTA to insure full compatibility when VISTA gets out.

NO COSTLY SQL LICENSE
Securithor uses PostgreSQL. This reliable SQL version has been around for 15 years and is available for free. Contrary to other CMS software, you don't need to add a pricey microsoft SQL or MySQL that would double the price of your CMS software.

NETWORK VERSION
Network version will be presented later in Fall along with new module WAM - web access module. A multi-site version if also in preparation for 2007.

WAM -Web access module for SECURITHOR
A new option will be available this fall for SECURITHOR, the WEB access module. Subscribers and dealers/installers will be able to access some of the SECURITHOR data over the web using their own web browser. Subscribers will be able to check history of alarms or know from the web if their alarm panels is reported as armed/disarmed.

Dealers and installers will be able to look at their respective SECURITHOR data to make reports, to check service tickets or even to update info on subscribers if you let them. The WAM is sure to save precious time for the operators and to add a commercial advantage to your CMS!

Security was not left aside when we designed the WAM. Access to the data is password protected, data is encrypted and access to the database is never direct. Every request over the web has to go to the Securithor WAM, a separate server. Numerous levels of access are available and the CMS decides who gets to see what and who gets to change information.

WAM is available two ways: Server and Service. You can purchase the WAM module from MCDI Security Products and run your own web server or contract a monthly service with MCDI SP to host and manage the WAM for your Securithor. This service is run by MCDI SP in secure web farms using redundant servers and high availability multiple internet links. You only need a good internet connection and all your subscribers will be able to access data by typing www.yourcentralname.securithor.com

The WAM -web access module - will be available this fall for SECURITHOR single station and network versions.

Decrypta 3 to replace Decrypta 2 in Europe.
In July, MCDI Security Products will launch a new version of the Decrypta 2 alarm receiver to meet Europe RoHS. This new receiver made specifically with all LEAD free parts is partly redesigned and will be available as a RoHS compliant receiver during summer 2006. The RoHS compliant version will be named D3 and will have several upgrades. The most noticeable is the a new chassis loaned from MCDI's Extrium family. This new box design permits 3 types of installation: stacked, angled for desktop view and removed to use in a PC or server. 4 new status LED have been added as well as new LCD with more brightness. Power options have been changed to power supply and standby battery fall over.

USB and serial outputs are still present and both are compatible with WinSAMM and SECURITHOR. Several D3 can be plugged easily into one computer using a USB hub thus eliminating the need of expensive serial port replicators. A free windows logger is supplied with D3 if you wish to use the second output for logging either on your main computer or on a second computer. The logger can replace a printer!

D3 complete specifications sales brochure will be available in July. Check www.mcdi.com for more news.
